Need 22.14 – 51-Year-Old Homeless Woman Undergoing Cancer Surgery

We alert you today to a 51-year-old homeless woman undergoing cancer surgery today. Our local church partner has ministered to her for the past ten years while she has been in and out of homelessness. (She currently lives in a tent.) She was recently diagnosed with uterine cancer that has spread to her ovaries and fallopian tubes. We have been tracking her situation with the care pastor from our local church partner, and we were already making plans to provide a clean place for her to stay while she recovers from surgery.

This need became much more urgent yesterday. In her pre-op appointment, the doctor found that her blood pressure was out of control and her enzyme levels have tripled, indicating the cancer is spreading rapidly. Seeing these signs, the surgeon rescheduled her surgery for today. She should be released from the hospital on Thursday, and we want to give her a clean place to stay for the next 60 days while she recovers. The care pastor has identified a safe extended stay with a small kitchenette for $1,550 per month. We want to give her two months of recovery time in this room before she returns to her tent.
