Story
We alert you today of a very encouraging need. So many times the needs we are working with, and alert to you, are for people in crisis. Well today that is simply not the case. We are alerting you of a child that is thriving and has great opportunities in front of her. However, that is not how her life started out and if not for God working through one woman in particular this 14 year old girl would not have the same opportunities she does today.
It would be impossible to explain the entire story in just this one Need Alert, but I want to give you the basics. As you look at this story I am sure you can fill in the blanks.
At age five this young lady was visited by a social working and told that her and her sister would be going to visit a friend for the weekend. When they arrived at the new “friends” home they met a single woman named Ms. Freeman. Ms. Freeman took the girls in and shortly after adopted them both. She loved the girls and expected a lot from them even though they were not delt the best cards in life at this early age.
Fast froward nine years….
Although Ms. Freeman does not have the financial ability to hand the girls everything they want she has instilled in them that if they work hard, good things will happen for them. That is what we are alerting you of today. The oldest girl has been awarded a full scholarship to a prominent private high school in their area. Everything is paid for including books and tuition. However, her extra curricular activities are not included. Field trips and other things must be paid for by the family. We have worked with our local church partner and reviewed Ms. Freeman’s budget. She simply does not have an extra penny in her budget.
This is where we thought you might like to come in…
She needs $500 per year to be able to participate in all the extra events with all of the other children. We would like to help her do that and fill her account with the required amount for one school year. We can always come back and look at the need again for the next three years.
