We alert you today of a need that is a little larger than we typically alert. Please keep in mind that we do not have any set rules around the needs we alert. However, we take every Need Alert seriously and as the gross amount of the Need Alert grows we feel even more pressure to double and triple check all other options. We assure you that this case is no different.
We are working with one of our local partners to save an artist/musician’s studio. Last year he broke his hand working on a construction project at the studio. He relies on his hands to make his living and has done so for the past 12 years. Even though the injury prevented him from working for over three months, he was still okay financially. That is when his fiancé and business partner was forced to undergo a hysterectomy. Again, even after this additional health event, they were still maintaining. Then she was diagnosed with skin cancer and they removed a very large section of her tissue in her back about the size of a soda can. Because the removed section of tissue was so large she was unable to work working or drive. She is now recovered and scheduled for a full pet scan next week.
One thing after another has piled on this couple and their business. They have been successful in the past and have not lived as starving artists their entire careers. After much discussion and working though the issues, it is clear that they will be sustainable again if we can just save them from this series of events. As I mentioned, this Need Alert is a little larger in nature and it is our prayer that we are able to help them save their business.
